DetailsFrom time to time, it is good to be reminded of the engineer’s responsibility to act in an ethical manner. As the next P.E. renewal cycle approaches, licensed engineers need to have taken one hour of ethics as part of the CEU requirement for license renewal in Florida.
DetailsLongtime board members Anthony J. Fiorillo, PE, SI, CGC, and William C. Bracken, PE, SI, CFM, have left the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. Mr. Fiorillo resigned in April; Mr. Bracken resigned in June.
DetailsWalid M. Sobh, 55, has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to fill a vacancy on the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. Mr. Sobh’s term runs May 1 through Oct. 31, 2018.
DetailsFBPE staff conducted an audit of the PE licenses renewed so as to verify compliance with the continuing education requirements. It was very surprising when the audit found that 112 of the 1,051 licensees audited were out of compliance.

To put it simply: FBPE is a regulatory board, overseeing the engineering profession in Florida. And FEMC is a not-for-profit, public-private corporation that provides administrative, investigative, and prosecutorial services to the Board.
