If you are a Professional Engineer whose practice includes the design of engineering works or systems in connection with buildings, structures, or facilities and systems covered by the Florida Building Code, you must complete an Advanced Building Code course prior to participating in the design of engineering projects covered by the code. The course is required to retain the “Special Qualifications” designation on your licensure record, pursuant to Section 471.0195, Florida Statutes.
You must take an Advanced Building Code course on the eighth edition of the Florida Building Code, which goes into effect Dec. 31, 2023. Courses on the seventh edition or earlier are no longer valid.
