As the spring school semester nears its end, it’s a good time to look back at FBPE’s outreach efforts. For the 2018-19 school year, FBPE staff have made 17 presentations to university engineering classes or groups, and volunteered at two events.

With the push to apply for as many cell sites as possible in as short a period as possible, and for the least cost, we’re observing an alarming new situation: the use of Professional Engineer seals and signatures copied onto wireless project plans and related safety documents, all without the knowledge — much less the permission — of the Professional Engineer.

FBPE staff traveled to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville for the ASCE Southeast Student Conference and the AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition, which were held concurrently March 28-30, 2019.

Teams from 18 universities, including six from Florida, competed in the regional Student Steel Bridge Competition run by the American Institute of Steel Construction. It was held at the Knoxville Convention Center on Friday, March 29, 2019.

The annual ASCE Southeast Student Conference gathered college students together to compete in 17 competitions. The 2019 conference ran March 28-30 at the University of Tennessee and the nearby World’s Fair Park in Knoxville, Tenn.
