FBPE Office REOPENS

The Florida Board of Professional Engineers staff has returned full-time to the office as of July 6, 2021. To reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure and to help prevent the spread of the virus, masks are optional in the office, but recommended for those who have not been vaccinated.

Amended Rules on Signing, Sealing Has Expired

The temporarily rule that expanded the use of electronically or digitally signed and sealed engineering plans and documents to include printed copies expired Dec. 31, 2020.

Deadline for Continuing Education Remains Feb. 28, 2021

The Florida Board of Professional Engineers has discussed and does not plan to allow a delay or exemption to continuing-education requirements because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Professional Engineers licensed in Florida must complete their 18 hours of continuing education by the end of the current licensure period, which is Feb. 28, 2021.

Registration for Special PE Civil Exam Open Through Dec. 14

Registration is open for the special regional Civil-only administration of the Principles & Practice of Engineering exam scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021.

Deadline for registering with NCEES to take sit for the exam is 3 p.m. EST Monday, Dec. 14, 2020. You do not need to register with FBPE.

Pearson VUE Test Centers Begin to Reopen

Some Pearson VUE test centers are resuming testing on May 1.

Test centers will be operating in compliance with local guidelines and restrictions. Examinees should verify test center requirements before arriving. In most cases, test centers will require examinees to wear face masks for admittance.

Capacity at Test Centers

Capacity has been reduced at all test centers to comply with social-distancing requirements. Examinees affected by the implementation of reduced-capacity requirements have been contacted by Pearson VUE.

Examinees are encouraged to log in to MyNCEES to check the status of their appointment and test center location.

Appointments are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Examinees who need to schedule or reschedule an appointment should do so as soon as possible through their MyNCEES account for the best availability.

Only open test centers will appear in your search.

Examinees should review the information on the NCEES website and the Pearson VUE website. If you have questions, contact NCEES.

NCEES Sets October 2020 PE Exams, Dates

The cancelation of the April 2020 paper-and-pencil PE exam administration affected approximately 16,000 examinees. To accommodate these examinees, the format of the October 2020 exam administration will be modified.

The October 2020 paper-and-pencil Principles & Practice of Engineering exam administration will be administered over two days: Thursday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 23. Exams usually offered once a year during the April administration will be offered in October.

Reapplying to Take PE Exams

If you applied with FBPE for the now-canceled April administration of the Principles & Practice of Engineering exam, your application and fee will be applied to the October exam administration. You are not required to re-apply or make a new payment. You should contact NCEES to schedule a seat for the October exam.

If you applied to NCEES for the April administration, you should receive a full refund of fees paid to NCEES. You will need to reapply for the October administration. NCEES will announce registration dates soon. Visit NCEES.org for more information.
