Licensee was charged with violating Section 471.033(1)(g), Florida Statutes; negligence in the practice of engineering; signing and sealing final engineering documents which contained material deficiencies. Mr. Dynesius signed, dated, and sealed structural engineering drawings for an addition which was designed as a conventionally wood framed lean-to. The documents contained material deficiencies. Those deficiencies include, but are not limited to, the wood referenced design values used by Respondent are too high and are not current, the column connection at base does not provide fixity, the headers and rafters are not designed for uplift load cases, no positive wind forces are applied to the raters and headers in the calculations, etc.

Ruling: This case was presented to the full Board upon a Settlement Stipulation. The Board imposed an Administrative Fine of $1,000, Costs of $4,121.85, a Reprimand, Appearance before the Board, probation with terms which include successful completion of the Basic Engineering Professionalism and Ethics course, the Board’s Study Guide, and project review at six and 18 months. Final Order was issued on 10/10/19.
