The 2023 ASCE Southeast Student Conference and the AISC/ASCE Student Steel Bridge Competition were held on the University of North Florida campus in Jacksonville on Thursday through Saturday, March 23-25, 2023.
The annual student conference, run by the American Society of Civil Engineers, featured a variety of competitions at UNF’s J.B. Coxwell Amphitheater, the Science and Engineering Building, the Student Union, and other locations around campus on Thursday and Friday, culminating in the concrete canoe competition on Saturday. In addition to the concrete canoe competition, engineering students also participated in concrete bridge, geo-wall, temporary traffic control, and other competitions and presented papers.
The regional Steel Bridge Competition, run by the American Institute of Steel Construction and ASCE, was held Friday at the UNF Field House. FBPE staff volunteered with the Steel Bridge Competition, including visual judging and assistance during the building competition.
