Roger L. Jeffery, PE, of Orlando, who served on FEMC’s corporate board of directors, died Jan. 9, 2024, after a brief illness.
The Florida Building Commission’s eighth edition of the Florida Building Code went into effect on Dec. 31, 2023. That means Florida PEs participating in the design of engineering projects covered by the code will need to take an updated Advanced Building Code course.

Starting with the renewal period beginning November 2024, PEs will not only have to click the button declaring that they have completed their required CE hours, but they will also have to provide documentation that they have done so.

The Florida Board of Professional Engineers appointed Edward Gonzalez, PE, to the corporate board of the Florida Engineers Management Corporation at FBPE’s December meeting in Tallahassee, Fla. Mr. Gonzalez succeeds Stephen Kowkabany, PE.
