When you think you’ve seen them all, here comes a new online scam: No, we don’t have a grand (or any) piano we want to give away.
If you receive an email from an FBPE staff member offering a free piano, rest assured, it’s spam. Please delete it.
While we’ve only heard of it in the past couple of months, the piano scam has been making the rounds for a couple of years. Here’s a post from Brown University from 2023.
This is just another way unscrupulous people try to get your information and, probably, money. See our earlier article about the different ways that engineers are being targeted by phishing emails.
