The 2014 theme came after great deliberation; “Engineering Tomorrow, Today” is what we feel engineering is all about. We, as engineers, are always considering ways to either improve on a current design, or think of something that never was.
That is why this year visual display competition will bring past engineering marvels to life again or bring to life a new modern marvel.In the visual display competition,students will combine engineering knowledge and creativity to produce a scaled model of a current structure (i.e. bridges, buildings, arenas, etc.) or design something new.
The new design should be applicable in today’s society. Scoring in the competition is based the following criteria: aesthetics and quality; use of materials (i.e. recycled, innovative, economical, unique use, etc); accuracy of existing structure or originality and creativity of the new structure and the list of materials.
