This marks the second year that members of FBPE have attended USF’s Annual Engineering Expo. Held on Feb. 21-22, 2014, FBPE staff set up a exhibitor table and spoke to students about becoming engineers and why science, technology and math played an important part in engineering. FBPE also visited a number of the many demonstrations and hands-on activities with attending students.

The execution of USF’s Engineering Expo each year is no small undertaking. Last year, approximately 19,000 students, teachers, Boy and Girl Scout troops, and families from local and surrounding areas attended. With over 10,000 slated to attend this year, the expo is an awesome setting for USF students to share their excitement for engineering by exposing these young minds in the 5th to 12th grade demographics on how math and science are its building blocks.

Exhibitors, consisting of local area and national businesses, were encouraged to bring interactive exhibits displaying the latest innovations in engineering and technology, and how they relate to our daily lives. Including USF’s student chapters and organizations, companies like LEGOLAND, Florida, NASA, TECO, Busch Gardens, and Lockheed Martin provided over 80 demonstrations and information to all those attending.
