The purpose of this competition was to design an effective race car that would be propelled by the use of water to jump across a ramp achieving farthest distance possible. The water would be forced out by a pressurized gas, typically compressed air.
Thus, an example of Newton’s third law of motion shall be demonstrated. The objective of this competition is to use basic principles of fluid mechanics and hydraulics to calculate the proper amount of pressure and volume of water needed in order to have a car travel the farthest distance. In order to succeed, this competition will test creativity, ingenuity and design techniques. Overall, the strategy will be to propel the car over a ramp, jump across a moat, successfully, and land at the greatest distance achievable.
