Roger L. Jeffery, PE, of Orlando, who served on FEMC’s corporate board of directors, died Jan. 9, 2024, after a brief illness. He was 70.
Mr. Jeffery served two full terms on the corporate board of the Florida Engineers Management Corporation from June 2005 until October 2012. He was its vice chair from June 2010 to June 2011, and its chair from June 2011 to June 2012.
More recently, Mr. Jeffery was a consultant for FEMC’s legal department reviewing complaints against Professional Engineers for the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
“Roger was a great mentor to me and helped me tremendously when I first came on board as FPBE assistant executive director,” Executive Director Zana Raybon said. “He interviewed me for the position and participated in my performance reviews. He was a great friend, too. He will be missed by me, as well as the legal department, as he had served as a FEMC consultant for many years.”
He was a senior project engineer with Terracon in Winter Park, Fla. Mr. Jeffery was previously president and chief operating officer of Jenkins & Charland, structural division director for TLC Engineering Solutions, senior structural engineer for AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, and a consulting engineer.
Mr. Jeffery specialized in structural engineering and forensic structural investigations. He had extensive experience in project design for a range of publicly and privately funded projects, including commercial, institutional, high-rise residential, and governmental work. In addition to design, he had experience with inspections, condition reports, and professional opinions for lending institutions, condominium associations, management companies, real estate firms, attorneys, and insurance companies.
He was a graduate of the University of Miami, with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a focus on structures, and of Leadership Orlando.
