One of FBPE’s Investigators conducted a site visit of the South Miami Hospital clinical expansion project with the cooperation of project manager from Arellano Construction Co., general contractor for this project. The expansion will consist of a 96,000-square-foot addition that will provide for an expanded emergency department, and new surgery suite consisting of 20 operating rooms with support space.
FBPE investigators went to the future location of Florida State University’s Wellness Center to examine part of the concrete-pouring process. The facility when completed will include expanded student health spaces: exam rooms, dental exams, eye exams, x-ray, and a laboratory, plus administrative and clinical support spaces.
FBPE investigators completed a tour of the CDS Concrete Plant located in Gretna that included observing each step of their processes, such as how concrete is mixed, use of lime baths, sump testing, and the pouring of pre-stressed beams.
FBPE investigators toured the Live Oak wastewater reclamation facility after some recent upgrades that included site development, a pre-treatment structure with mechanical “bar screen” treatment process tankage, clarifiers, filters, chemical feed, emergency generator, electrical, instrumentation, high service pump station, solids dewatering, and aerobic digestor.
The redevelopment of the Cascades area, is a multi-million-dollar project that entails a greenway plan for a 5.2-mile corridor through downtown Tallahassee. The park details consist of planning for trails, park, and greenway amenities in combination with a stormwater retrofit master plan.
Situated in the heart of the Gaines Street revitalization area, between the Florida State University campus and the ongoing roadway construction, an area marked by old under-used warehouses and other structures that stands as a reminder of days long gone in the Capital City’s history is to be remade into a “little town within a city.”
